At True Vintage Candle, fragrance is half the experience. We create fragrance blends that are rated for cosmetic and skin-safe use. This means we develop fragrances that meet higher ingredient safety standards than is required for candles.
Our Safety Standard: IFRA + RIFM
Our fragrance blends are grounded in the global framework used by responsible fragrance houses. The fragrance industry follows global safety standards designed to help ensure fragrances are safe for use in consumer products. These standards are developed and maintained by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), the organization sets guidelines for the safe use of fragrance ingredients. Guidelines are based on scientific research conducted by the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), an independent, non-profit scientific organization dedicated to evaluating fragrance ingredients to support their safe use in everyday products.
What fragrance oils are made of
Most home fragrances, including luxury perfumes, use a blend of both natural and synthetic ingredients. Synthetic means an ingredient is created by people rather than extracted directly from nature. Many synthetic fragrance materials are used because they are more stable, more consistent, often safer at controlled levels and more sustainable than harvesting large amounts of natural materials. Both natural and synthetic ingredients are carefully evaluated for safe use.
Why Don’t You List Every Ingredient? This is a question we hear often. Fragrance formulas are proprietary inventions, similar to perfume recipes, and may contain dozens of components blended together. Because of this, full ingredient lists are typically not publicly shared by fragrance manufacturers.
